Praying for Myself – Victory over Controlling Habits

“For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.”  (Romans 7:19; NKJ)

Even the Apostle Paul admitted that in his flesh he struggled with sin and controlling habits.  There were clearly things that held him against his will.  We would have to read into the next chapter, Romans 8, to find the solution: crying out in the Spirit of God to our Heavenly Father.  And we are not alone even in prayer, for Paul says:

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”  (Romans 8:26; NKJ)

As we continue in our prayer journey, let us ask God to help us break any controlling habits, any defeating thought patterns, any destructive behaviors.  Ask God to enable you to walk in the victory that is ours through the Resurrection of Jesus Christ!
